Summer Lovin'

Summer is just the best.  School is out.  The sun is shining (well that's not unusual for San Diego but you get it).  Life is good.  Since I took Harper to visit my parents in March I decided to visit with Riley in June.  She traveled like a champ.  We had just a few episodes of unhappiness but for the most part she was awesome.  The part that sucked the worst was that my luggage didn't make my connection from Atlanta to VPS.  WE almost didn't make it so it was no surprise when my bag didn't arrive, really.  We had about 45 minutes to make it from Terminal B to Terminal E.  But how annoying.  But it eventually arrived at my parents house around 3am the next morning so it wasn't too bad. But then on the way back my luggage didn't make my connecting flight back to San Diego in Atlanta again!  I couldn't believe it this time since my gates were right next to each other, literally (landed at C33 and departed at C34) and my bag DID NOT make the plane??? Seriously??  I could not believe it.  So we had to hang out at the airport while my bag arrived on the next flight from Atlanta.  Ugh...Delta...You suck!

I got to see from great Tiffany and Hector and do a bit of shopping which is always fun.

Riley even had fun at the mall!

We also got to show Riley the beach which she absolutely LOVED!

She wasn't so thrilled with my parents pool.  I can't even tell you how many months of swim lessons this girl has had and she is still not a swimmer.  She was barely wanting to dip her feet in.  Silly thing.  But she was loving on some grandpa and grandma.  Very happy to be hanging with them.

Riley's first snow cone!

It wouldn't be a proper post without some pics of baby Harper.  She is such a happy baby; just like Riley was at this age.  So smiley!  My lovies!!

Matt and I had a great date night out to a Padres game.  Such fun sitting in great front row seats!

Riley Turns Three!

I cannot believe that Riley is three!  To celebrate we threw quite the shin-dig.  We rented a bouncy house and had a great party at Kate Session's Park.  The way to do a toddler party is definitely to have it start around 10am.  That way all kiddos are tired right in time for nap and for us we just bought a bunch of pastries, bagels, fruit and coffee.

And you can't forget the cake.  The cake was incredible and seriously was straight from the grocery store.  Riley had a blast playing with all the kids and we had a great time getting to know her friends parents!

After her party her grandparents and aunt came out to spend the week with her.  We had a great Easter at the Hotel Del on Coronado island for brunch and Easter egg hunt.  She had such a great time but crashed fast on the way back home.

She also got to go to the zoo!  Such a great birthday week she had!

I also started work this past week.  Not only did I start back to work but I started a new job at a new Navy Command.  I work downtown now at the Supervisory HR Specialist (Injury Compensation Program Manager).  Long title but I basically supervise a small office overseeing the entire worker's comp program for NAVFAC worldwide.  So its been quite the week!!!
My personal parking spot and a cruise ship at port!

Harper is as cute as ever!  Love both my babies!!!

Quick Update from the 4 Emery's!

It has been two months since my last post and well, things with a newborn and a toddler keep me pretty busy so some things I just never seem to have time to get to and this blog was one of them.  But while Riley is "napping" (I use quotes because she doesn't nap but just sit in her bed reading and singing most days) and while Harper is content, I have a few minutes for a quick blog update.

Harper has been amazing.  I can't believe I got so lucky as to have two really good babies!  Riley was a great newborn and baby and so far Harper has been amazing!  She doesn't sleep as good as Riley did at three months but she's not too shabby at sleeping at least 6 hours at night.  I will take it!  Bringing her home was such a joy after 10 days in the ICU but also scary since I seem to have had amnesia and forgot everything from the Riley times.  Sleep was at a premium early on and time was also had a premium!  There were days where things were so busy I would forget to eat!  And with the little breaks I had it was a decision to either sleep, eat or shower!  But now that its been almost three months I finally have the routine down and do shower, eat and sleep everyday. :)
I'm a bit tired here.

The last week in March I flew down to Florida to see my parents and brought Harper along with me.  She was an excellent travel partner.  She slept the whole time on the plane and only woke up to eat at the Atlanta airport.  It was great to see my parents and Aunt Karen and then also see my newly engaged bestie, Tiffany, for some wedding event planning!  We got to catch up over some great food at our favorite sushi place in Destin, Sakura's.  I was so nervous about flying solo with Harper but all anxiety went away since she was incredible on both legs of the trip!
Very happy grandparents.

Aunt Karen

On the plane flying home.

I start work in two weeks and I can't believe how fast my maternity leave went by!  In two weeks I actually start a new job at NAVFAC as the Supervisory FECA Program Manager (Injury Compensation).  I will manage the entire program for the command enterprise wide and also supervise some folks so coming from maternity leave this will be quite a transition!  Well, Riley is up and so is Harper so now I must say goodbye!!  Next post will be from Riley's birthday party.  I can't believe she is turning 3!!!

Started smiling.

A little tummy time.
