How it all started:
September 6, 2003 Katie met Matt in Jacksonville, FL at a friends wedding. Katie was attending graduate school at Appalachian State University in Boone, NC while Matt was working in Richmond, VA as a financial analyst. Both were 23 years old and not really looking for a relationship...but you know what they say....'when you aren't looking that's when you find the one you will love'...so that started the long distance love story.
After graduation from App State Katie moved to Harrisburg, PA for a job as a contractor for DoD while Matt headed to New York City to pursue Investment Banking. Although they weren't 6 hours apart, they were 3 hours. Both lived pretty independent lives but Katie would travel into to NYC (by car) to visit Matt on the weekends when he was not working. This was a tough time for the couple as the long distance can wear on even the strongest relationships.
Luckily, Katie got a job in NYC in April of 2005 so they could finally live in the same city! Katie moved into a great sublet on 33rd and 8th Ave which is right across the street from Madison Square Garden. She lived with some randoms but they were all really nice and there were no scary stories to report. Her view was amazing:
So after Matt's lease was up and Katie's sublet was done, they finally moved in together. They got a cute...quaint...cozy apartment in the West Village..which is a very...well..eclectic neighborhood of NYC.
But we lived it up on NYC. It was a wonderful experience but one that wouldn't last forever.
In June of 2006 Matt proposed to Katie in Central Park...just a few weeks before they would be moving to Washington, DC.
DC was a much better fit both professionally and personally for both Katie and Matt. It was the right place for them. Although they have moved three times (Silver Spring, MD to Bethesda, MD to Chevy Chase, MD) they loved the 'burbs of DC.
So the two got married, bought a house, got a dog, and have a baby on the way.
So what's next for the two? Stay tuned...there is more to the story.
